A 5K run on Sunday will benefit Friends of Animal Rescue.
The run is open to the public and is sponsored by the Texas Narcotic Officers Association, which is also holding its annual conference at the South Padre Island Convention Centre.
The event will benefit Friends of Animal Rescue.
On-site registration for the one-mile walk or run and the 5K run will be held near the Hilton Garden Inn at 7010 Padre Blvd., from 7 – 7:45 a.m. on race day.
The on-site registration fee — for either the one-mile walk/run or the 5k run — is $25 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under.
The run will begin at 8 a.m. this Sunday on the beach at the Hilton Garden Inn, the town’s spokesman Adrian Rodriguez said. T-shirts will be given to the first 200 runners. Trophies and medals will be awarded for first, second and third places in each age category.
Friends of Animal Rescue will have pets available for adoption on the deck beachside, Rodriguez said. Refreshments will be provided for participants.
