Richard Franke Sr. has been an integral part of South Padre Island real estate for more than five decades. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering and serving six years in the U.S. Air Force as a KC-135 air refueling pilot during the Vietnam era, Richard joined Franke Realty in the early 1970s alongside his father, Bud Franke, and brother, Dennis Franke.

Throughout his career, Richard has been instrumental and played a key role in the development and sales of some of South Padre Island’s most recognized properties, including The Breakers, Franke Plaza, Emerald Beach, Edgewater Condominiums, Embassy Regency, Seville, Park Shore, and Summit Condominiums. His extensive experience includes the sale of numerous Island lots, homes, land, and condominiums as South Padre Island has grown into the destination it is today.

Richard is also current President of The Shores, a premier beach-to-bay luxury gated community featuring stately homes, homesites, and prominent condominium properties. His decades of hands-on experience, development knowledge, and deep understanding of South Padre Island make him a trusted resource for buyers, sellers, and property owners across the island.
