The Fifth annual Valley Environmental Summit will be held on Thursday at the Brownsville Events Center.
According to a release, the summit is headed by State Rep. Eddie Lucio III, D-Brownsville, in partnership with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and other local organizations. The summit aims to create an association of federal, state, local leaders, residents and businesses to address environmental needs. State Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, will be the keynote speaker. The event will be open to the public. This year’s topics will focus on disposal options for household hazardous waste, sustainability, and code compliance issues in relation to illegal dumping and scrap tire disposal.
