Doug Fowler knows what it takes to manage large crowds and put out fires on high-rise buildings.
These are just some of the top reasons he has been picked to be the South Padre Island’s newest fire chief.
“We are pleased to welcome a candidate of this caliber to our team,” said Susan Guthrie, Island city manager. “Doug brings a wealth of experience from his time with the Austin Fire Department that will benefit our community greatly.”
Fowler has been the Assistant Chief of Operations for the Austin Fire Department. According to the Topeka Capital Journal, Fowler was a finalist for the Topeka fire chief position before deciding to take the job on the Island.
Fowler will assume his new on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.
